Christopher Cowdray, the Chief Executive Officer for The Dorchester Collection group of luxury hotels was awarded the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award at the European Hospitality Awards. The award serves as recognition for his 30 years of service in the luxury hotel industry, where he's held numerous high ranking positions, and has helped to guide some of the world's largest hotel chains.
Christopher has been the CEO of Dorchester Collection since 2007, taking over after his tenure as General Manager of the hotel chain in 2004. Of the award, Cowdray said: ‘I am truly delighted to be recognized with this award from a panel of esteemed judges. We have pursued consistently and diligently our vision at Dorchester Collection to create the ultimate hotel management company and I have been assisted by a dedicated team to ensure the focus remains on genuine guest engagement and our values of passion, personality, respect, working together and innovation.’
Mr. Cowdray has been a leader in helping to revitalize the luxury hotel market. Some of his innovations have led the Dorchester Collection to more success in major cities like London and Beverly Hills. Despite the market being a difficult one to keep up with, he's made changes to the old luxury hotel format to keep them in line with modern expectations.
These days everybody expects WiFi, and a giant TV. Which makes it difficult for older hotels to catch up, or to interest a newer and younger demographic. However, Christopher Cowdray's leadership has been instrumental in improving the quality of the Dorchester Collection's hotels, and better managing the guest experience of those who stay within their walls.
Christopher continues to have big plans for the hotel chain in 2014, and is looking to expanding the brand, and coming up with new and innovative ways to provide the right type of luxury experience to guests.
